Castelbello-Ciardes/Kastelbell-Tschars is the southernmost village in Venosta Valley and the gateway to Merano/Meran and Environs. The mild and sunny climate guarantees wonderful hiking experiences in the winter. Here one can walk at mild temperatures along the mountains in winter and enjoy the sun, the fresh air and the breathtaking panorama.

A special hiking experience is offered at sunny Monte Sole mountain. The mountain reflects the rather arid climate in Venosta Valley and is thus free of snow even in winter. Thus, a winter hike through the forest trails and paths of Monte Sole mountain below Juvale/Juval and around Mount Trumès and the castle ruin of Hochgalsaun is a very special experience.

The other side of the valley is framed by the snowcapped Monte Tramontana mountain, where you may enjoy a snowy winter trail in an idyllic landscape. Most impressive is a hike around the lake in beautiful Val Martello or a walking-tour in the majestic mountains of Ortler, Cevedale and Gran Zebrù/Königsspitze.
